Lasagna Chips

September 11, 2017 Jessie Moore

Lasagna chips, you guys. Yes, they're exactly what they look like: dippin' chips made from lasagna noodles.

Allow me to expand on their story.

I was recently assigned to write an article for Craftsy about uses for lasagna noodles that are not, well, making lasagna. I put it out there on social media that I was looking for ideas and I got plenty of good ones. Between that and looking around online, I was able to generate quite a few clever ideas.

But absolutely the best one? Lasagna chips.

The idea is simple: cook your lasagna noodles, cut into pieces, fry, and add a little salt. Serve with marinara sauce. SNACK SERVED.

They taste awesome. I mean, don't most things when fried? The noodles take on a crispy edge which is delectable with salt, and heaven-sent when dipped in some sauce and put in your mouth. (As you can see I am really using my words today)

Give these a try, call me a genius all you like, and enjoy!

Lasagna Chips

  • Cooked lasagna noodles (as many as you'd like; each noodle will yield 6ish chips)
  • enough oil to fill a pan about 1/4 inch deep (I used Olitalia Trenta +30 Olive Oil)
  • salt
  • tomato sauce (I used homemade pomodoro sauce)

If your lasagna noodles are slightly wet, pat them dry. Cut into either squares or triangles.

Heat the oil in your pan over medium-high heat. When it starts to shimmer, add the chips a few at a time.

Cook til golden on the first side, flip, and repeat on the second side.

Remove using tongs or a slotted spoon; transfer to a wire rack atop paper towels to cool. Sprinkle with salt.

Repeat with the remaining chips. Serve with tomato sauce, or if you're really into trying something creative, why not make a lasagna chip nacho plate?

Disclosure: I received the Olitalia Trenta +30 Olive Oil I used for frying these lasagna chips as a complimentary gift from the company. They did not pay me for this feature but I was given the olive oil for free. I was very happy with the results!

Have you ever made something unusual with lasagna?
